“We want people to know about the benefits of using solar energy.

“A big part of this means ensuring a return on investment within 5-7 years”

Solar System Finance Options

Buying a solar power system for your home or business is a very important decision.  It should be viewed as an investment and it’s important to understand the returns you’ll generate – such as increasing your property value and income from exporting the energy your system generates.

We are here to help and can discuss all these options with you and help you make the calculations to make the right decision.

There are many factors to consider such as power requirements, which system to choose and which supplier to work with.  But a vital consideration that is often overlooked is how to best finance your solar system.

There are many options when it comes to finance for solar power.  In our experience,  some are very misleading in how they are presented. This can breed confusion and make it harder to be confident in taking the leap to install a solar power system for your home or business.

Financial products with structured payment plans are beneficial for a lot of people investing in solar, however, as we all know, many financial institutions are not always  transparent in the way they operate..

Deposit-Free Payment Plan

We have partnered with Parker Lane to provide this simple, easy-to-understand plan that offers great value and weekly repayment options.  You can see what systems are available under this plan and also view weekly repayments here.

You can have a solar system installed from as little as $24 per week!

Green Loan

Green Loan is an unsecured personal loan for environmentally friendly purposes

This is another option available through our partnership with Parker Lane.

This finance option can be used to purchase solar systems, but unlike the solar specific finance options, it comes with all the features and flexibility you know and love from a personal loan.

Typical structure of a Green Loan:

  • 3 year Green Loan cost = $8748
  • Cash price = $8000

0% Interest Finance Option – words of warning

When businesses offer 0% interest options, lots of questions come to mind. If one of the Big Four Banks started advertising 0% interest home loans would we believe them? Unlikely.

0% interest loans for solar  are advertised regularly – you’ll have seen them all over social media.

When you pay no interest, the financier must be making a return somehow – that somehow is FEES! This is how these lenders make their money:

  • Fees payable by the purchaser
  • Fees payable by the retailer – these are passed on, so again…
  • Fees payable by the purchaser

This arrangement is how the 0% interest loans work in the solar industry.

A typical 0% loan structure:

  • 0% interest price = $10000
  • Cash price = $8000

As well paying more for your system in the long run, 0% interest loans often come with very restrictive small print that means your agreement could be stacked against you.

Typical clauses include:

  • If you have a complaint about your agreement, you may not have access to the services of an external dispute resolution scheme that has been approved by ASIC. This means that you may have to go to court to resolve a dispute with the provider.
  • If you have trouble making the periodic payments, you may not have the right to ask the provider for a hardship variation to help you get through your financial difficulty.
  • If you have trouble making payments, your provider may take action against you for non-payment without giving you a chance to remedy the fault.
